A vehicle struck a house on Park Avenue Sunday morning hard enough to remove a corner of the garage, threatening the structural integrity of the building.

Rye FD responded to a report of a vehicle that had struck a residential structure at 351 Park Avenue in Rye, NY compromising the building’s structural integrity and utilities, at 9:31am on Sunday, January 11, 2026. While in route, Con Edison gas and electric were requested. Upon arrival, Rye FD members were advised by the Rye PD that the vehicle’s operator was out of the vehicle and reported no injuries. Initial assessment revealed damage to the rear corner of the residence near the garage, including damage to the gas line supplying a generator.

The duty officer requested an expedited response from Con Edison gas, a representative from the Rye Building Department, and initiated a recall to cover the City of Rye while on-scene operations were underway. Due to the structural damage, the New Rochelle Fire Department Collapse Unit was requested to assist with shoring operations to ensure the structure could be safely turned back over to the homeowner. Fire department crews successfully isolated the affected gas and electrical utilities.

Members of the Rye Fire Department, working alongside the New Rochelle Fire Department, installed temporary support, cleared the damaged area, and subsequently placed permanent shoring to stabilize the structure. All units were clear of the scene at 11:43am.

The Rye Police Department documented the incident and investigated the cause of the accident, but authorities did not provide an assessment as to what happened with the driver and vehicle that caused such catastrophic damage to the home.
